38. Weekly Update

.

Hello from Reykjavik!

Writing this, I’m sitting relaxed in the lobby of my hotel, spooning up warm sweet potato soup, and I must say I feel thoroughly chilled out. I’m not entirely sure why, but every time I am in Iceland I notice that it doesn’t take much to be genuinely happy. The tranquility of the place, the landscape and the feeling to have a bit of time to breathe is enough. Iceland must be one of the very few places on this earth that I already miss while I’m still there. Crazy! I need to come back as soon as possible!

All in all, the week was relatively quiet, at least seemingly. All my focus was on shootings for my upcoming project, of which I can’t share anything yet, which is why the news-flow was a bit slower. As the shootings didn’t leave much time for other activities, I simply didn’t have much I could share.

So, while it may seem like I’m taking it easy, I am actually working my butt off, not only for the upcoming TV show but also for another big upcoming project: next week I’ll teach a course for AMD (Akademie Mode & Design). Basically, I’ll be hosting a workshop – ‘Advanced Blogging’, in which I’ll share skills andknowledge beyond the basics, including SEO and social media. Very exciting indeed, and definitely a new challenge!

I mentioned a couple of times that I’m really interested in working in the educational field, at leas to find out a bit more about it, and if it goes well and proves to be beneficial for all involved, I could definitely imagine working more along those lines. After all, I have accumulated quite a bit of knowledge and experience over the past couple of years, and I think it would make a lot of sense to pass some of those skills and know how on to other girls. Whether that will be at AMD or on another platform is not clear just yet, but it may actually be quite tricky to really do it – working as a lecturer would mean I’d have to pretty much be locally present most of the time, and I’m just not there yet.

Which is not to say I don’t enjoy being home: after 2 weeks on the road I’m really excited to head back to Berlin. Anyways, I’ll head to Portugal again shortly thereafter.

Watches:
The Circle
It’s been a while since I watched a movie that really excited me, but The Circle really got me with its twisted thought experiment. What happens if you’Re online 24/7, always under observation? Where does social media end? The Circle is a really suspenseful and socially critical movie starring Emma Watson, elaborating on this premise, and hitting the current Zeitgeist rather perfectly (Instagram Stories, etc.). A big recommendation, not least to all of you who have already watched all episodes of Black Mirror.

Plans:
I have decided to give my flat an update as soon as possible. New furniture, a bit of color, a change here and there. And for that I need your recommendations! Does anyone know a good painter in Berlin who won’t charge me a fortune?
Plus, I have tons of stuff that I’d like to sell at Mauerpark flea market. Does anyone know pros who are willing and able to help with such an undertaking? Does such a service even exist? Does anyone have any experience or recommendations that you’d be willing to share? The thing is, I have many boxes full of stuff, and even the part of carrying them is way too much for me to handle on my own ^^

Important:
today is election day in Germany! Please remember to cast your vote, it’s really, really important! I don’t want to bore you with the slogan ‘if you don’t vote, you elect the right’, but unfortunately it’s true. So, please engage with the respective party programs, and don’t throw away your vote. Oh, and if you live in Berlin, please vote for a continuation of operation of Tegel airport!!

Happy:
I haven’t done any exercise for three weeks now. This may not sound like all that much, but it felt like an eternity. You don’t know how surprised I am to be writing this, but I actually missed it! In light of the fact that I used to be a real couch potato as far as exercise is concerned, I must say I’m actually quite active these days, to the point that I almost come to love my exercise duty. Forcing myself to work out three times a week also gives me a certain rhythm, and maybe also the illusion of a certain structure and daily routine. Plus, I started with BBG at the beginning of the year, and somehow I’m just not ready to give up on it. Thanks to Kayla, exercise has become a part of my life, and it really annoyed me that I interrupted my work out routine for three whole weeks. It feels a bit like failing. Now, after an eternity of dealing with a cold, I’m almost healthy again – I had my first work out session yesterday. Crazy how fast the body snaps back into it. It surprises me time and time again.

Mal schauen, was die Zukunft so bringt!

Ich wünsche dir noch eine tolle Zeit auf Island und freue mich schon, weitere tolle Fotos zu sehen!
    Alles Liebe,
    xxMaj-Britt
