Elegant and sporty – is that even possible?
For me an elegant style meant fulfilling the cliché of “black and high heels”. That used to be my naïve, teen imagination of “elegant“, because just as “classy” this concept was far away from me, because it referred to adult style for people 25+. The idea wasn’t really concrete and I knew I would be grown-up as soon as I dressed myself “elegant”. I thought this was meant to be the moment of getting an adult, but I couldn’t really imagine this situation at all.
Well, it took some years, but today I am seen as grown-up and not only my experience of life has expanded, but also my idea of “elegant”. Being dressed elegant and timeless doesn’t mean “little black dress” and high heels any more, but also experimenting with textures and cuttings to create an outfit that harmonizes and is timeless.
Some combinations have become timeless only recently, for example sneakers. Pairing them with suit pants used to be a no-go and was related to rebels. At least this is not the case in Berlin anymore. Today sneakers can be more than sporty. They have conquered the streets through all layers of society for a good reason.
The best example are my new Reebok Classic Nylon Winter Runway Sneakers(exclusively at Foot Locker) in canvas-beige: the different materials form the perfect and timeless sneakers, that do not only upgrade every clean outfit, but also gives the required effortlessness to a severe look without breaking it completely.
Same applies to brown shades: while I used to find brown and beige shadows “boring”, I changed my mind, because brown shades are just like a good glass of wine: you will only learn to worship them while getting older. And so the brown shades they proved to be the perfect alternative to my beloved black lately and so they conquer my wardrobe little by little now. This also reflects in this look and you might not be surprised that this palette of colors is moving in my shoe closet as well.
Let me tell you, brown is the new black
