Beauty: Hard to get

Here’s one thing you should know about me: I love discovering new trends. I think that’s a huge reason why I love being a blogger, I get bored of trends pretty quickly and am always looking for the next thing. And when that’s difficult to find, I don’t give up – I take it as a challenge. I love the new, the unconventional, the undiscovered. I love mixing things up, experimenting, not only in terms of fashion, also with beauty, as you must have gauged from all my make-up styles and hair colors. I change my routine regularly, and enjoy adding new elements here and there, all while trying to stay true to my statement look.

One of my biggest pleasures is shopping beauty products when I’m abroad. It’s always a great opportunity to discover new trends and to learn about new brands and product innovations that are not available at home yet. Of course, most trends and products will eventually hit Germany as well, but sometimes it takes quite a while, like for example in the case of Urban Decay. Especially when it comes to beauty products, Germany tends to lag behind a little bit. On my travels I found many awesome and cool labels that are still very difficult to get in Germany.

Cue today’s subject: Hard to Get Beauty Products. Amazon is now aiming to make access to some beauty favorites easier, which sounds great to me. It basically means I can discover new beauty products without having to leave my couch, let alone the country. So, without further ado, here’s my new Christmas Glow themed beauty tutorial for you featuring a bunch of ‘hard to get’ products I discovered in Amazon.

Before putting on make-up it’s important to take great care of your skin. Sheet Masks, the trend that originated in South Korea, has reached Germany now. Sheet Masks are basically disposable masks soaked in nutrients. One of the brands that really built up a considerable hype with this product is Missha from South Korea. Their masks are available on Amazon and affordable. One of the most popular one’s is the Real Solution Tencel Sheet Mask, which contains hyaluronic acid that moisturizes dry skin. The Tencel material, meanwhile, increases absorption into the skin. Another favorite product is the Lip Treatment von Clinique, which I always apply prior to using make-up.

When it comes to foundations, I swear by Nars. I’m a huge fan of the concealer in particular, it’s pretty much the only one I have been using for years. First I apply the Perricone MD Foundation with a beauty blender, then I spread another layer on the bags under my eyes with the Radiant Creamy Concealer, which covers perfectly and makes my eyes look fresh in an instant. The Nars Concealer is really amazing for the area around the eyes. It’s biggest disadvantage is that it’s very, very difficult to get Nars products in Germany! I got to a point where I had to give up trying to scratch the very last bits out of my concealer container (it was hopeless, in the end) – now I am all the happier to hold a new, full package in my hands. Bonus tip: the foundation covers really well too, and often I blend it with my day cream to create a lighter look.

Next step: highlighting and contouring. As a bronzer, I love my Rodial Instaglam Compact Deluxe Contouring Powder, which I use to accent the contours of m face. I apply the powder at the sides of my forehead, below the cheekbones and on the chin in order to enhance the shadows on my face. I then use a highlighter palette by Sleek, which is another one of my favorite brands, and sadly very difficult to get in Germany as well. Sleek produces amazing eyelid palettes, but I must say they have a great product line in general. My highlighter palette includes 4 different highlighters, 2 creamy and 2 powdery ones. My fav is ‘goddess’, a light pink powder, perfect for above the cheekbones and below the eyebrows. I also love Dynasty, a golden, creamy highlighter which is perfect for the area between nose and lips and on the back of the nose. The darker Delia tone works wonders to add additional glow to the area just below the cheekbones.

Next up are the eyes. First I shape my brows with an eyebrow-pencil, for example the one by elf. Nice eyebrows make a big difference, one that is often underestimated. Then I start with the actual eye-makeup. I discovered the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette , which consists mainly of brown tones that are more on the natural side. The best thing is: each tone is included twice: in matte and in glitter.

For the next step I use an eyelash curler (mine is made of rose-gold and super stylish!) to bring my lashes into shape. I then apply mascara, Absolute New York Tube Mascara.

That gives me more options to decide on a day by day basis what I feel like wearing. More often than not I go for the matte version, especially the dark brown . It’s simply the perfect, natural brown. I also love the shimmering, golden a lot, One of my favorite looks is to apply the dark tone on the eyelids and then to blend it with a lighter tone to create a soft gradient. For the area around the tear gland I use the light S4 to make my eyes look bigger. Back in the day I used to go for extreme eye make-up, with lots of black and other very dark tones, but these days I’m much more into brown tones.

Bonus tip: Bonus tip: I discovered an amazing product by blinc!!! It’s basically sort of a mini straightener for lashes! I kid you not! That little thing works wonders on your lashes especially when you jsut applied mascara, but it also works super nicely for everyone who enjoys a more natural look. I hugely recommend it: just apply some transparent mascara BellaPierre and then straighten your lashes with the lash straightener. This little trick will give you the most INCREDIBLE look. amazon-tutorial-9 5 amazpn

Last but not least, the cherry on top, the lipstick: here I use some favorites from the Be Legendary Matte Lipstick Collection by Smashbox, which I keep in a little separate box. But I do like also the LIME CRIME Velvetines Liquid Lipstick . Bonus tip: to tell them apart more easily and to make choosing easier, I drew a color sample of each on a piece of paper and taped those little strips onto the tubes. Just makes it that much faster to pick the right one.

  3. Liebe Masha,
