October: I can’t live without…

Anzeige

The last post about my monthly favorites turned out to be hugely popular, so I decided to follow it up with another installment.   Once again, I selected 10 favorites from all areas, a bunch of products, services and places that were dear to me this month. The list ranges from preserved flowers to the newest hotspot in Berlin, making this a selection as colorful as autumn trees.

Favorite label: Closed

With so many new labels and trends entering the market every month, it’s easy to lose track in the fashion jungle. That may be a reason why I’m drawn to labels that focus beautifully on the basics, labels that I can count on every season. Closed is one of those for me. Not only am I a huge fan of the famous Pedal Pushers, I also have a soft spot for the label’s wonderful knit-wear as well, which closed offers in awesome oversized cuts. Big love for this great label with its high-quality classics.

Favorite all-rounder: Poncho by Stefanel

Some products have become fixtures in my life since my trip to Iceland, and this beautiful poncho by Stefanel is one of them. It kept me warm on Iceland, and seemed to make every outfit a little cooler. I think you see it on quite a few of the most recent pics, which gives an indication how much of an allrounder this piece is. You can also wear it as a scarf in wind and weather, use it as a travel blanket or – if all else fails – as a photo background. Definitely a piece of clothing I would never want to miss again :)

Favorite bag: MCM

I’m not actually that big on logo bags, but there’s a major exception: my MCM, my trusted companion and go-to bag of the moment. This bag relegates all my other bags to existence in the shadows of my closet. The MCM has the perfect size and color and goes with pretty much every outfit, at any time of day. Classic but with a certain extra – just the way I like it. This beauty of a bag has not left my side for the past couple of weeks.

Favorite mask: Annemarie Börlind – Hyaloron Eye Pads

Immediately visible effect – this is a promise I tend to react to immediately. I tried these eye pads a couple of weeks ago, and, what can I say, I’m already going through my third package. They’re super easy to apply and stay in place just the way they should. You probably know it too, most eye pads don’t stick to the eyes well enough, often enough the treatment is interrupted prematurely by gravity. Thankfully, this is not the case with these pads by Annemarie Börlund. Plus, it only takes 10 minutes to refresh your look. My secret weapon after a long night out!

Favorite tool: hairbrush by Remington

Are you guys also struggling with straightening your hair after washing it? I’m regularly contorting my arms beyond what’s healthy when I try to blow dry my hair with a brush. Well, looks like there’s a solution for this little every-day problem: the electronic hair brush by Remington. Basically, it’s a combination of a hairbrush and a straightening iron with a coated ceramic surface, that gets quite warm in use. Simply brush your hair and you’ll see them straighten out much more gently than with an iron.   What an ingenious little tool!

Favorite nail polish: YSL Rouge over Noir

Disclaimer: I fall in love with new nail polish colors in regular intervals. Having said that, there’s one in the bunch that I’ve been faithful to for a long time now: ‘Rouge over Noir’ by YSL. Beautiful name, and perfect dark red tone, relatively durable and looks great. Dark red is just the perfect nail color for autumn and winter, it provides a sexy contrast to the cosy knit-wear sweaters I like to wear.

Favorite necklace: Stilnest

‘Where did you get that necklace?’ I hear that question for every photo I post where it is visible. I have actually worn this piece pretty much constantly for a few months now, I feel kind of naked without it by now. How long have I been looking for a simple, golden moon necklace. In the end, the search proved futile, so I went ahead and designed one of my own together with Stilnest – a necklace that reflects my taste. It’s part of the festival collection, and has become one of my most cherished pieces of jewelry.

Favorite flower: Fleurs de Paris

‘A flower box… not again!’ That was my thought when I heard of Fleurs de Paris for the first time. But these are no regular flowers, they have a secret: while they are real roses, offered in a variety of box-sizes and petal colors (black!!), these are in fact preserved (dried) flowers. This means that the flowers will last for several years. In other words, flowers to make the moment last, and – hopefully – also your love. The perfect present, if I’ve ever seen one!

9. Favorite store: Sixtyseven

The new burger joint in Rosenthaler Straße 67 in Berlin’s Mitte district is run by the same owners as District Mot next door and offers – first and foremost – one specialty: the Bun Bao Burger! This beauty of a burger was declared Berlin’s best burger several times. It’s basically the Asian interpretation of a classic burger – and a real culinary highlight in Berlin at that. The guys at Sixtyseven went one step further and offer the Bun Bao in different varieties. Yummy!

Favorite author: Sergei Lukyanenko

Some of you may have heard of Sergei Lukyanenko as the author of the popular Night Watch series. I, for my part, was completely sucked in by the series and read the whole thing. Once I was through with the books, I was longing for more, and I knew there was only one cure for this particular desire: more by the same author. In his books, Lukyanenko, himself a Russian, transports us into Sci-Fi/Fantasy worlds and weaves plots that pose (and sometimes answer) the important questions of the world. All his works have a decidedly philosophical undertones, which he contrasts skillfully with healthy doses of action. Where is the line between good and bad? How does the length of our lifetime relate to its intensity? Lukyanenko manages to weave these questions into a wider context presented in stories about trips to distant, strange worlds. This is only for you if you enjoy action with real depth!

SCHWARZE ROSEN!

    1. Hi Vivien,

      hab dich schon vermisst :)
