Summer is back again, the time of the year where I get the chance to sport my shorts and dresses – and where my cellulite is a little too visible.
Yes, it’s an uncomfortable subject, and no, us women don’t enjoy talking about it. But let’s be honest, it affects most of us, regardless of age and weight. Some girls and women have more cellulite, others less, I am somewhat in between.
There are many reasons for cellulite: lack of exercise, unhealthy diet, dehydration or a genetic predisposition. Usually it’s a mix of several factors.
I don’t spend too much time worrying about cellulite, the truth is I’m not all that bothered and quite relaxed about it, but it’s also true that life would be nicer without. The bast way to battle cellulite actively is through regular exercise, but there are also a number of treatments, peelings and household remedies that can produce great results. A popular and well known option is the coffee peeling.
The active substances contained in coffee have an invigorating effect, give the skin resilience, dehydrate the skin tissue, and support both the fat reduction as well as blood circulation. Using coffee as peeling provides the added effect of removing skin flakes and nurturing the cell renewal process. The peeling thus provides a great basis for the active substances in the coffee to unfold.
It’s easily prepared and done, and here’s the best bit: you probably have all the ingredients at home already.
Here’s what you need:
ca. 5 tablespoons coffee powder
ca. 2 tablespoons olive oil (coconut oil is also a good option)
ca. 4 tablespoons brown sugar
Simply mix all these ingredients together until you have a homogenous mass, fill it in a glass, and massage the peeling in with circular motions when you’re taking a shower. Rinse off the peeling, and do no use shower gel afterwards. Your skin will feel amazing!
Extra tipp: I recommend you use an anti-cellulite peeling afterwards (e.g. by Collister) once your skin is dry.
It goes without saying that a peeling – and, for that matter, any other treatment – is only a supportive measure. The most effective measures against cellulite are a healthy diet and regular exercise. But every little helps :)
