Today I would like to tell you about a project that I’ve been, well, ‘working on’ for quite some time now. I’ll call it Project30. And Project30 can be summed up in one single sentence:

I want to look as good as never before when I am 30. That, dear reader, is the basic concept.

Sounds easy, doesn’t it? The idea started to take shape after I made the resolution about a year ago to exercise more. The harsh truth is that 30 comes faster than we think. I want to be able to celebrate my 30th birthday with genuine joy, euphoria even… and that means I have to act NOW. Good results take time, and sometimes a healthy dose of time pressure as well.   So, how does Project30 translate into a blog concept, and what does it mean for you as readers? My idea is, that as part of this project I will try various treatments, sports and a range of approaches from all angles to keep my mind and body fit. Most changes take quite a while to really implent, so I’m really set on starting now, while I’m still 28. We’ll see, trying a range of different things will probably mean that I won’t be able to do everything the way I planned, maybe some challenges will prove too big, while others may turn into unexpected opportunities of growth. One way or another, it’s going to be exciting and interesting, not only for myself, but hopefully for you, too.   Did you ever turn yourself into a project? For me this is a first. Sure, I tried the odd diet, got a gym membership, stuff like that. But I never made myself the focus of a project to the point that I become one with it before. Definitely a first.

In fact, I realize now that I took myself for granted all my life. Everything about me, I accepted it as a natural reality, good things and bad. But that has changed. I no longer take my body for granted. I am grateful for my health, and the fact that I can start Project30 from a pretty good level. My body works as it should in every respect, and it seems that my abstinence from tobacco (and mostly from sun as well) is finally starting to pay off. I have never felt so good in my life before – and I am aware that I radiate that comfort. Still, there is plenty of room for improvement. For example, it really gets on my nerves that my skin has gotten worse since I went off the pill, and cellulite remains an enemy lurking in the shadows (right now I have it under control with all the exercise I am doing). I’m sure that whatever bothers me, there must be some treatment or method out there to help me improve my current situation.

Project30 also means making sacrifices. Two of them are my boobs. As positive as losing weight is, I feel it most noticeable in my chest area. Basically, I have shrunk from a good B to an A cup. That’s a shame, of course, but I wouldn’t consider breast implants. I’m generally pretty skeptical when it comes to cosmetic surgery, but I do find myself open to the idea of getting laser treatment for my eyes, for example. After 15 years of wearing contact lenses, that’d be a real luxury. As I said, there are plenty of treatments out there that I feel could be something for me, whereas others are completely unthinkable. And that’s exactly what I will explore in Project30: which treatments seem like good options, and how effective are they?

But feeling pretty on the outside is not enough, I want to feel healthy, centered and beautiful on the inside as well. That’s why I’ve been thinking about trying various spiritual treatments in addition to sports and physical exercise, in order to get to know myself better. Maybe you have some ideas, some recommendations of treatments that interest you, that you would like to know more about or that you maybe didn’t really have the time or courage to try for yourself yet? Let me know!   I will write about my experiences with these treatments on my blog. And once I turned 30 I’ll review the entire project and extract the essence. Maybe I’ll look back and think this was the worst idea ever. I genuinely don’t know yet. But only if I try will I know for sure.   And if it’s a success, I can transition directly into the follow up: Project40.

  1. I loved the words that you have written. Feel good from the outside is just not enough to look awesome, you must be good and pure from inside as well. Though a lot of situations influence and make us to act according to the time, it’s important to stick to the inner happiness to look good along with the style that we carry. I would love to follow your blog from now on, Thanks !

  2. Liebe Masha,
    Alles Liebe,
    xxMaj-Britt

  3. Dear Masha,

I find myself embarking on a fairly similar project. Thank you for putting such a positive spin on the whole thing – not something alot of my friends are doing right now!

Looking forward to seeing the results and hopefully getting inspired.

Vielleicht findest Du ja was Spannenderes.

    Deine Selina

  8. Haha, my dad laughs that I have turned myself into project30 recently… I got laser eye surgery (if you’re interested, I literally just published the last blog post about it – sounds like a shameless auto-promotion, but personally when I was thinking about going for it, I craved every piece of unnecessary advice I could get :) feel free to hit me up with some questions too, if you have any!), then four months later I got braces, then I moved to a warmer country as advised by my doctor, then I started running… New boobs are just a natural progression, I like to laugh myself, but seriously, shy of gaining some weight (which has been a struggle for me since the day I was born), there is not much left :)
I have two years more though, haha.

  9. I recently moved to Berlin from California and have been following your Instagram since Berlin fashion week this year. The beginning of this year was a mark of refreshment for me in so many ways. One area was working out and getting healthier. After years of digestive problems, even a minor surgery, last year I decided to become pescatarian (unfortunately Vegan was impossible because of my l love for fish and cheese). But this year it was working out. My whole point to this comment is that my boyfriend and I started using the app Urban Sports Club. It’s a great app that gives you the opportunities to try different athletic classes and gyms all over Berlin. We’ve recently started bouldering (and loving it btw!) but plan to also try forms of yoga and Pilates and found they even have pole classes. ?So…this could be a helpful resource for your ‘project.’ And if you ever want a friend to join you I would happily indulge in a new experience with you! Happy healthy adventures to you!!!
