If there is one place in Berlin for me, it’s the Chancellery in the middle of Berlin. I can still vividly remember my first time there. It was 2007 and I was in Berlin for the first time with friends. It was already dark and we sat on the steps overlooking the river Spree, weaving its way through the buildings. I have never forgotten the magical feeling of this moment.
At that moment in time I had no idea how relevant this memory would be for me and how accurately I would remember the details and the importance of the lasting friendships from this meeting almost a decade ago. To this day, this place holds something special for me, a bit like a fortress in the middle of the city. A quiet place amidst the bustle, right on the water with the best view of the city. Since I live in Berlin, not too far from the chancellor’s office, there is another point on the list: this place is my favorite shooting location. It is so wonderfully clean there, quiet and a real symbol of the city, a place of silence and a place where important decisions are made. Since I was there for the first time until today, hardly anything has changed, it seems just as if the clocks have stood still and that the time passes very slowly, while the walls are painted with beautiful, colorful memories.
