Summer is here, and the festival season is already in full swing! And whether you like the idea or not, the truth is that in the 21st century music festivals are no longer about music alone – fashion plays a huge part too! Be it a 60s hippie look or the sneaker-and-bellytop combos of the 2000s – fashion reflects music, and all over the world festivals are a playground for fashion.
I must say, under the right conditions I’m all for it! If it’s not just about the game of see and be seen, if clothing fulfills a role somewhere between festival-chic and function wear, and as long as music still takes center stage there is an undeniably beautiful synergy between the worlds of fashion and music.
So, to get in you the mood for all the upcoming festivals, Peek & Cloppenburg offers a wide range of clothing and accessories under its POP Impressions umbrella.
From July 22 onwards, you’ll find everything your (festival-) heart desires in pop-up spaces in the P&C Weltstadt-stores in Berlin, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt am Main and Vienna! Those among you who with a soft spot for the classic look with flower dress, lace blouse and frayed shorts will love the carefully curated selection by Free People. Fans of denim will find an amazing all-over look by Levi’s, and if you want to show up prepared for the festival mud, the selection includes the perfect boots and rainjackets by Hunter. There is something for every taste, whether you’re into 60s youth culture or feel more inspired by the minimalist look of the 2000s.On top of the selection of brands including Champion, Free People, Hunter, Ellesse and Levi’s you’ll also find a good few essential beauty and lifestyle products.
My absolute favorites?
I’d have to say the colorful range of Essie nail-polishes and the Instax instant photo cameras.
– Cosy but weatherproof shoes
– Logo and basic shirts
– sweater for the evening
– Denim, denim, denim!
– Swimsuit (trust me. wear a bikini instead of underwear!)
– Backpack (or fanny pack)
– Soap bubbles set
My personal festival season started last week at Kosmonaut festival, and you’re probably wondering: what’s Masha’s ideal festival look in 2018? The answer is: it’s quite minimalistic, actually, spiced up with denim and an air of casual comfort. I tend to reach for a pretty monochromatic color scheme, with well-matched items.
What we should not forget, especially in Central Europe, is that the height of summer does not automatically guarantee sunshine and temperatures upwards of 30 degrees. It’s best to be prepared for all eventualities, and good equipment and gear is the basis for the most carefree and fun festival experience!
My perfect festival outfit fulfills two requirements at once: it needs to represent me fashionably, and it needs to protect me from wind and weather!
In my case, I knew I needed the perfect rain-jacket, something wind- and weather-proof that complements my regular looks that would also keep me dry – just in case. Plus, I wanted to be able to stow the jacket away in my backpack quickly and without a fuss. I didn’t have to search for long, the green model by Hunter is perfect for me. It goes really well with equally weather- and festival-proof Dr. Martens.
In the end we were actually pretty lucky with the weather, so I also packed a bunch of summer essentials like my swimsuit (Kosmonaut has a lake for pedal-boating and swimming!) and my denim skirt, all stuffed into what’s probably the most important festival item of all: my black backpack, which is not only more comfy but also clearly more practical than any frayed-boho-bag I might have otherwise reached for.
Do you like my outfit?
